Letter probably addressed to journal editor and historian Mary B. Poppenheim, of Charleston, S.C., in which O'Neale submits new lyrics that she wrote to the tune of "Dixie." O'Neale's asks her correspondent to consider the song's potential for publication, and reports "I believe it has been decided to keep the old words to Dixie in deference to the wishes of the majority of the Veterans--we can, nevertheless write out our own versions"; letter also comments on the St. Louis World's Fair celebrating the Louisiana Purchase.
